Governance

In order for CLM to continue operating and supporting its children well into the future, it is critical that we run with the highest standards of governance, transparency and accountability.

We are committed to operating with integrity and take this responsibility very seriously. We operate according to the requirements laid out by the South African Child Care Act of 2010 and we have instituted the necessary checks and balances to ensure that we maintain our registration as an NPO & PBO in good standing. We also have our BEE certification which can allow your business to receive BEE points for financial donations to CLM .

Changing Lives Ministries is audited annually by an independent financial services provider. In keeping with our commitment of financial transparency, these auditing reports are available to interested persons upon request. We conduct our financial affairs in a way which engenders confidence among our sponsors so that we can confidently demonstrate that their donations are used effectively, where they are needed as requested.

Our Governance Board is in the process of receiving the seal from subscribing to “The Independent Code”. The Independent Code was developed to promote good governance, high standards and best practice among NGO's in South Africa.

Milly Jarvis: Portrait of a Mother

When Milly Jarvis retired from her accomplished professional career in the tourism industry she decided to volunteer and live full time at the Village of Joy when the children were moved there from Diepsloot. When CLM moved to the Village of Joy, Milly was designated by Child Welfare as the official guardian of the children in CLM's care. Milly lives on-site seven days a week twenty four hours a day as CLM's full time around the clock House Mother and Manager. Despite raising three biological children to adulthood she has taken to children raising again! She has dedicated herself to creating a better life for many underprivileged children. She is a hands-on Mother in all regards!

She handles all aspects of life at the village, sourcing food, managing staff, communicating with sponsors, coordinating volunteers and the list goes on.
Milly has continually put the needs of the children first, loving, guiding and nurturing them.

(Milly is assisted by a trained staff of local women who receive payment for their work. It should be noted that Milly does not receive financial remuneration for her work. Her daily life is much like that of any Mother, living, eating and working with the children in her care)
